Le jeune responsable libéral Mohamed Lamine Massaly a fait une sortie pour dénoncer l’attitude de certains libéraux vis-à-vis de la candidature de Me Madické Niang avant d’assumer son soutien à l’ancien ministre des Affaires Étrangères. Mohamed Lamine Massaly a aussi révélé que plusieurs responsables ont agi dans l’ombre pour parrainer Me Madické Niang. Une déclaration qui semble véridique car confirmée par le porte-parole du PDS. Selon Babacar Gaye : « Il existe effectivement des responsables et des militants qui ont parrainé Karim Wade et qui ont tiré sur leurs stocks pour parrainer Me Madické Niang ».
